  HoldemEye - GUI Design

Poker being a popular online entertainment, software companies have designed a variety of applications and tools to assist you during the game. Sibers decided to answer the challenges of competition and develop a convenient and effective, but what is more important, legal aid tool for Texas Hold 'em Poker. The product was created by a team of GUI designers, analysts, experienced developers and poker players.

At the analytical stage, our experts got an insight of the existing calculators to highlight the pros and cons of their interface and functionality. Our product was supposed to have three key features: be convenient for the user, effective in fast and correct assessment of probabilities, and legal, which meant not violating any poker room policy.

Sibers HoldemEye application includes three main units: a calculator, a statistics window, and a poker room window developed after careful analysis of a gambler's needs.

Research of what's needed and what's not during a poker game, showed that the Calculator's interface should include following elements:

  • columns of the combination probability;
  • Win-o-meter, which displays the general probability of winning;
  • images of the cards on hands and on the table;
  • status line with message log for the user;
  • tips bar with program hints.

The probability of a certain combination out of 10 possible ones for gamblers and their opponents is shown as a number of columns of different height and color, together with the numerical value of the probability. Win-o-meter evaluates not a single combination, but the situation as a whole and shows if the gambler is likely to win the current hand. For your convenience, you can see the win-o-meter scale either as a speedometer, or a thermometer and switch between them. HoldemEye recognizes images of appearing cards and remembers them. It’s an honest aid tool that sees exactly what player sees; the benefit is much faster calculating of probability compared to reading from message log.

Statistics window is called from the main calculator window and contains a list of players and two tables, Opponent status and Call/Raise table. Opponent status table helps to define the opponents’ game style, while Call/Raise table remembers and shows special graphical icons for all the opponents actions in the current hand (who and when raised, called, checked, folded or betted). Both tables can be easily customized as you can choose what information you prefer to see; the number and the width of the columns are adjustable as well.

Poker room window shows the room you choose as the calculator automatically connects to it. If the poker room has not been selected or downloaded, you will see a sad inactive imitation of a poker room and switched off calculator. HoldemEye Poker Calculator supports major poker rooms by default and can be easily customized for new rooms and poker variations.
